Tearing my hair out
Oct. 13th, 2008 08:21 amMy poor cat has a urinary tract infection. He went from acting weird Friday night to peeing outside the box on Sunday morning, and lo and behold: a tiny, healthy bladder, but he's got inflammation in there somewhere. The emergency vet in Raritan was really good, but damn was that expensive. So now I'm giving him wet Prescription Diet twice a day with a painkiller and a relaxant for his bladder, along with water and catnip oil mixed in, and I'm adding catnip oil to his drinking bowl to get him to DRINK GODDAMMIT. And I'm shooting liquid Clavamox down his throat twice a day. The "amox" in Clavamox is amoxicillin, to which I am allergic, along with all other penicillin derivatives. He managed to spit some onto my hand a few minutes ago, but I think I washed it off in time. I'll be watching out for blisters, though. Yes, blisters. Hives are only if I ingest it.
We have extra litter boxes set up around the house. Now if only I could make my poor baby understand why it hurts when he pees, and that it will be over soon.
