I'm in the midst of reading The Affinity Bridge, and I just have to say...a lot of books, especially mystery novels, seem too stream-of-consciousness to really suit their genre. This one, however...the narrative is impeccably crafted, and clearly done so with intent. Textbook execution is not always a bad thing. This feels like the heir to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, not some hack trying to imitate him. Definitely worth the time.

Does anyone who is savvier than I am (not hard) know of a way to get an RSS feed or similar of someone's LJ? It would help a friend who is having access issues at work.

The last of the speakers of the uncrackable code that kept the Japanese and Germans from translating Allied radio transmissions during WWII: Clarence Wolf Guts, aged 86. He was also one of the three developpers of that code. Without these Native Americans, the war could have had a horribly different outcome. Hilter was a crazy moron, destined to fall apart. Hirohito was NOT.

Rest in Peace, Pfc. Wolf Guts.
