So, in college I was really close with my friend Clark. Freshman year I spent a lot of nights sleeping beside him. We were really tight, up until my senior year when I moved off campus. We lost touch, essentially, with neither of us trying very hard. But I had his number, so I wasn't worried. Until September 11, 2001. See, Clark was in the Marine Reserves. I knew, sooner or later, that he was likely to be activated. So I started calling. I'd get voicemail, but never hear his voice. For six years.

This morning, I got a Facebook friend request from him. He's alive and well.

The internet is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Remembering

Crown War 2006 was when I admitted to myself that things were over between me and Craig. I'd known for months, but I'm a fighter. I held on till he dumped me, a month later. I still remember the date of the last time we had sex. For reasons previously discussed, I can never forget.
I was wasting my time and his, hoping that he would become the person he had pretended to be. And now I'm free, and some other poor girl is buying what he's selling.

And you know what? It's okay. Everyone loses sometimes. Not everyone gets to win like I am now. I've got my one someone, and it's better than I ever dreamed it would be. Right now, I'm PMS-ing hardcore, and he still thinks I'm the cutest girl ever.

I'm glad I'm done wasting my time.
