So, I've been having car issues. Specifically, if I don't warm my car up a few minutes before driving it, it...chugs. The issue is my O2 sensor.

So I went online to see if there were any service bulletins about my car...and dear god. People who had faulty O2 sensors reported that the sensor would burn out the catalytic converter! So pay $600 for this part now, or $2000-$3000 for the Cat converter later! Oh god, I don't have either.

So today is oil change day, and I asked my mechanic (Bob's Friendly Auto in Midland Park, 201-444-0820, they are WONDERFUL) to check my engine over.

Result: yes, the O2 sensor is on its way out. But I have at least until my next inspection date (12/08) before I have to worry about replacing it, as long as I don't cold start my car. It'll probably drop my gas mileage a bit, which is a pain, but it's not a worth $600 pain. NOT ONLY THAT, but the report I read online was wrong. There is no way my O2 sensor can burn out my catalytic converter.

Hooray for a mechanic on no one's payroll but his own!

Reply to this post, and I will list three things I love about you. Maybe more than three. Then repost to your own journal and spread the love.

Beware - the answers may be odd.

Edit: wow, you people are attention starved!
