Sex is the ultimate selfless and selfish act. One gives and one takes, but
the goal is that of pleasure. There is no reason why two adults in full
control of their facilities can't come together for this end, and nothing
more. Some stodgy people would say that they /use/ each other. For
certain! How flattering is it that someone would let you enter their
bedchamber and let you take of their body at in it's most vulnerable state?
And in return, you also receive pleasure?

Such women, in my experience, shouldn't be degraded as whores. They should
be exalted for allowing us to experience terrestrial divinity.

Besides, if you can't fuck your friends, who can you fuck?

Now, polyamory is not my cup of tea, but I know many people who subscribe to
it's philosophies. I don't knock those who practice it so long as they are
safe and honest. But I also don't think its for beginners. The complexity
of micromanaging a multifaceted dynamic social situation is beyond my
capability, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's impossible.

It's always bothered me that there is derisive slander towards women who
enjoy sex and so little in the way of equivalent terminology towards the
opposite sex. Women are branded "hussies," while men are "studs." It's a
double standard.

And why should "whore" be an insult? It's a time honored profession, and in
my opinion, a person's right as the owner of their own body.

Not all societies frowned upon the sensuality and sexuality which is an
inherent and integral part of the human animal. In ancient Babylon, at
least once in her lifetime, every woman was required to go with the first
man who cast silver into her lap. All of the priestesses of Inanna were
whores. Shamhat, a priestess of Inanna, plays an integral part in the Epic
of Gilgamesh, where she made love to Enkidu for six days and seven nights.
Before the Westernization of Japan, Geisha were highly respected as
courtesans. In Europe on Beltane or Walpurgisnacht the population at large
got pretty loose with who they paired off with. The main fertilities rites
were generally performed between a priestess and a king (with whom he was
not married).

Ironically, these are all instances of "sacred whoredom." From the stigmas
of Judeo-Christianity, we have the patriarchal line, the impurity of the
"loose" independent woman, the original sin (the cause of which was woman),
the female curse (childbirth/menstruation), and the general
incompetence/subservience/weakness of women. Also, women are considered
"unclean," and there are laws about a woman's natural function. (Leviticus
book 3 and Deuteronomy 4 for more details).

Don't fret. The people who are trying to proselytize you into their way of
thinking aren't worth your thought and emotion. Keep your head up, avoid
harm, evade drama, and continue to reap the fruits of passion when and where
opportunity is ripe. They guffaw-- but also keep in mind they're not the
ones having sex.

People have been making a lot of good points. I'm glad I've been able to get people talking about sex from a philosophical perspective. Most of the time, I don't think people even think of sex as anything more than the act itself. I'm glad my peers can formulate intelligent thoughts on the subject.

As to Mr. Diehl, he doesn't know me. Our interactions have only ever been limited to my saying hello to him and him looking at me as though I were about to kill him. I'm sure he's got some sort of woman issue, but I'm not about to try to figure out what. I'll just ignore him in the future like most other people do, socially. Shows what you get for being nice when you don't have to. And I doubt he wants to fuck me.

Ah, the jealousy issue. No matter how smart and accepting and understanding and wonderful your partners are, it's a risk. I don't have a problem with people BEING jealous. I do have a problem with people ACTING possessive. When it comes up, it's time for a talk. If that doesn't work, it's time for a walk. There's nothing in the world wrong with having a normal friendship.

And friends are the only people I'll sleep with. If I don't know you, and like you, and respect you, I won't be able to trust you. And if I can't trust you, I'm not going to fuck you. So no worries. Condoms + pill + trust = safety. One or the other of the first two (never both) might be skippable--maybe (but probably not)--but never the third. Never, never the third.

Why didn't I mention all this a long time ago? Because I've only accepted myself for who I am in the last few months, when I've been at a point in my life where I can explore this part of myself.

Jesus of Nazareth was a pretty groovy hippie and all-around nice guy. The folks I find who are actually trying to emulate him, I like.

Eric's new girlfriend is Shannon from work. They have a world in common. I'm really sorry, [livejournal.com profile] alphafemale1. He seems pretty happy, though, so I'm happy for him even as I'm sorry it didn't work out. It would have been cool.

is if people who would LOVE to tell other people what they think would just do so. Then it wouldn't look like I'm the only one who feels that way.

On friendship (and I paraphrase John Larson):
"Take me for what I am--who I was MEANT TO BE--or leave me."

I find that, once again, I have been too nice. What would have been kindest is a slap in the face, which I cannot bring myself to do.

1) None of this was about Fred. He wasn't the original offender.

2) Of course I want attention. If people don't, then why would they speak up?

3) Don't blame me for your own curiosity. Channel surfers don't get to read the title and author of the show before they see it. Nor do many of them have the chance to state their complaints in a forum where their opinion is granted the same validity as said author.

4) I do not in any way consider "slut" to be an insult. Not after the last few months.

5) I do think many people at Mystic Realms are EXTREMELY inhibited, and I hope I did make some of them uncomfortable.

6) I have strong opinions on underage players at Mystic Realms. They are not nice ones.

7) I think I made some people think. As a result, no matter how much insults are thrown at me, I'm happy with how this all turned out.

8) I learned a few things. I had some fun. I am not angry or hurt, as the people who had something nasty to say are the same people who always have something nasty to say. I am simply very amused.

9) My morality is different from most people's. But I'm not trying to make anyone live the way I do.

10) Kevin was never one of my pets. The term "pet," as I use it, refers to someone with whom I have mutual cuddle priveledges (and nothing more!). The term "puppies" is an old term from a rant of mine on the Panther Boards entitled "Why Men Suck" (which was a follow-up to my "Why Women Suck.") "Puppies" are people who follow someone around begging for a moment of their attention. Kevin was never that either.

---I generated four pages of discourse. Not all of it was good, but some of it was. There are political leaders who can't even say that.---

I've been spending a lot of time with Craig (not to be confused with Krag, i.e. [livejournal.com profile] chainsawbutcher). He is very cool. I am very happy.

Life's been work, home to do housework, D&D, Craig's house for the past few weeks, with interruptions. Such as visiting with Zach (not Zachariah), visiting the lair of [livejournal.com profile] dragonchylde and [livejournal.com profile] loki2814, and going camping with either Markland or the SCA.

My brother-in-law's little brother, Joey, is getting married to his longterm girlfriend, Kim, this Saturday. I am more excited than I can say. But I have NO IDEA what to get them!

I found out what Joey's been doing for a living since Y107 became a salsa station. He's a programmer for Sirius Radio! He does all their bluegrass and some of their 80's metal, and occasionally gets on the air as Joe Black. I will need to get Sirius Radio when I have the cash freed up.

The job. Is ok for now, but I don't think I'll be there longer than I need to be. Sure, it's good pay and benefits and I need those. Or I wouldn't bother at all. It's still in an office (yuck). And I have to talk about how great U.S. Box's products are, when honestly I don't give the least bit of a shit about them. Craig pointed me to a well-established leatherworker I know, plus I can smile pretty and ask [livejournal.com profile] wolf_nd_shadows for crafting advice. It would be cool to be a professional leatherworker. I'd never have soft hands again. Oh wait, I don't care. I prefer workers' hands. They're a sign that the people who have them EARN their living.

I know, I know, plenty of people work hard for their money without being craftspeople. I was just raised to believe blue collar workers were superior, and it's a hard mentality to shake off. And one I usually don't want to. Still, doctors are pretty necessary people and they work damn hard. Same goes for teachers.

Mom's officially insane. Her moods are literally binary by the day. She likes me one day, then dislikes me the next. This is a pattern repeated as soon as it finishes. She's crazy.

Dad's moving to Vernon, into Uncle Doug's old house. I get to have a room there. I get to have a room in my father's house. That hasn't happened since I was 12! I'm so.... completely unsure of how I feel about that. On the one hand, space of my own, away from my mom and with my dad. On the other, where the fuck was he for 6 years, and why does he think he was entitled to be back for the last 6?

I don't know. They're nuts, and I'm nuts because they're nuts.
