Pee and spookiness
Oct. 29th, 2008 10:28 pmSo...Flap's urinalysis came back today. He DOESN'T have a UTI. He has this: http://www.2ndchance.info/fus.htm
Fortunately, he's nowhere near into the advanced stages. Because I didn't assume that his peeing outside the box was bad behavior, I got him checked out early and began his treatment long before more serious intervention was needed. He's already showing a big improvement.
No drugs needed. He's permanently on Hill's Prescription Diet, and his pH already seems to be lowering, which is how the crystals will dissolve and stay gone.
In other news...I totally don't care about Halloween this year. I'm trying to give a damn, but I don't.

Don't wanna go to sleep
Oct. 28th, 2008 12:23 amFlap has to be cooped up all night.
At the vet's today, he refused to eat or drink from 9AM to 6PM...and so of course couldn't pee. He's on a walkabout from his kennel now, but will soon be confined again. He peed about a milliliter while I was out helping a friend with her baby registry, but that's really not an ideal amount, so hopefully he will pee more tonight.
My poor baby, all cooped up someplace where he didn't know anyone in a metal box and thinking I'd abandoned him. Last thing he needs after everything he's been through.
I cannot WAIT for my life to not revolve around cat pee.

Halfway there
Mar. 23rd, 2008 11:06 pmSeven more treatments and Mudflap is done. His ears already look fine, so we're officially in the "making sure" stage. He's been such a good boy. I never would have believed that a cat would sit so still and be so tolerant of having stinky pH wash and steroid cream squirted into his ears. He doesn't even get mad at me; 30 seconds later we're sitting together on the floor while I feed him treats, and he still wants to climb under the covers when I sleep.
Happy spring, all!
I've begun cleaning, of which this place is in desperate need. After getting the place spruced up, I intend to clean out my nightstand and storage tub...I'm pretty much cleaned out on everything else.
My cubicle is beginning to look like it's mine.
10 more treatments and Flap's ears will be done. They're already looking a lot better.
Jason is coming tonight! Perhaps sushi?

Mar. 18th, 2008 01:22 pmLooks like Freehand is going to take me a while to pick up. Have I ever mentioned how I feel about Macs? Let me elucidate you: http://www.absurdnotions.org/
Edit: Later that day!
Okay, nevermind. Freehand was easy. Also, I have a parking pass for the garage and a cubicle of my very own. I'm bringing in gargoyles tomorrow!
Mr. Mudflap was very good during his ear treatment today. Poor thing wanted to scratch so bad but he couldn't move. I have to remember tomorrow to wear shoes when I do it again. 12 more days, little one, and then all better.

Flap had his yearly checkup today. He got rabies and distemper shots, and the vet took a sample of his ear gook to see why his ears itch him so much.
He has another yeast infection. So, it's back to the horrible pH solution and oily ontment for another two weeks to kill the muffins he's making in his ears.
Poor baby, he hates this stuff.

A great gnashing of teeth
Mar. 10th, 2008 02:35 pmGetting frustrated with the job hunt. Things are status quo...I have that interview lined up on Wednesday, which is my best hope, as it's a call-back and they seem like my kind of people. The temp lady at MedCo seems to be working for me, but I'm beginning to believe that HR people are horrendously lazy. After my experience working HR, I think it's an absolute sin to be so. Looks like I'll be picking up a work-from-home doing commission-only embroidery sales. Meh. I'm not expecting much, but I'll give it a shot. I'm a lil rusty at working the contacts, but who knows?
Going to an egg donation seminar in Somerset tonight, after which I get to visit with Jason. Yay!
Lizzy's (yay she's back from AZ!) boss should be calling me today. I don't want to work long-term with kids, but in the short term, why not? It's money.
My poor kitty. My roommate brought me ear mite meds for him, in case that's what his itchies were. I was hoping so, because then he'd be done. But no, not mites. So something else is making him scratch incessantly. I guess it's up to the vet next Monday.
Disclaimer: I do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day. For me, it's That Day in March When My Family Gets Together. St. Patty's is beyond just me not being Christian. The "snakes" that Patricius (who wasn't Irish) drove out of Ireland were pagan practitioners, and guess how he did it. That's right, genocide! Woo! Awesome! Sorry, it's a farce and an insult to Irish culture to celebrate it. I don't berate my family for it, or anyone else person-to-person, but don't wish me a Happy St. Patty's, or you'll get an earful.

Mar. 4th, 2008 04:32 pmToday I was asked the most bullshit question I've ever been asked in an interview. Position interviewed for: receptionist. Question: What's your ideal job?
My ideal job?
Why do you care what my ideal job is?
You don't. It's a bullshit question. You were looking for something like:
I want to work with a team of dedicated professionals to develop my talents and make a lasting contribution.
What the fuck does that even mean? It's a bullshit answer.
You want to know what my ideal job is? I don't have one. I would like to pay the bills, pay off my debts, and still be able to eat and feed my cat. I really don't care how, as long as I don't have to hurt myself to do it.
Ideal job. Why don't you save that one for the interviews with people who actually know anything about your business? Receptionists are not idealists; they are pragmatists. My ideal job is one I can do that will pay me what I need.
Bet they offer me the job. I hope I have something better by then.

Mar. 4th, 2008 11:57 amInterview today at 2:30 for a job I really want.
I just finished a bit of cleaning. I didn't vacuum the whole apartment, nor did I re-Comet the bathtub...but other than that it's back where it should be.
Mudflap and Rocky are sitting in my open window (screened), meowing and clicking at the birdies they want to hunt. It's pretty cool having all this roof right there. Maybe in a few months, when things are settled, I'll get a birdfeeder.
Petco carries catnip spray. The only ingredients are water and catnip oil, so it's as safe as whatever you spray it on. Plus it smells nice...more minty than dried nip.

Wait, what? My hate's broken!
Feb. 11th, 2008 05:37 pmThe events of this Wicked Faire, and those immediately following it, leave me with a warm fuzzy that is preventing me from hating at all. I shall enjoy it while it lasts. LuxURious!
Jason helped me give Mudflap a bath on Sunday, and no one died or was injured. Plus, Mr. Flap's butt is still dandruff-free over 24 hours later.

Aug. 31st, 2007 08:03 amToday I discover if Mudflap will be happy travelling with me. I hope that he will, and I believe that he will or I wouldn't try it in the first place. He was completely calm when I brought him to my apartment from Hawthorne. This trip will be more than twice as long, but I think he'll be all right. Plus, where he's going is very clean, quiet, and lacking in other animals. These are things he likes (along with the proprietor of the place!).
Wish us luck!
Wish us luck!
Life as usual
Aug. 21st, 2007 08:27 amWith the chilly and rain of north Jersey, I have had a cold room and a warm bed to sleep in. Very restful. Although, rain does seem to make all the idiots come out and drive.
Working on turning Mudflap into my travelling companion. Things are going slowly, as I want to make sure I have all his needs covered without neglecting any of my own.
Stayed out waaaaaayy too late last night, but it was marvelous. Met up with Zack and Carol at the Barnes & Noble in Clifton Commons, and had an amazing conversation that kept me awake and interested so that I got home at 12:45 AM.
Sleepy me!
I have lots of good friends who aren't batshit crazy. It's awesome.
