Flap had his yearly checkup today. He got rabies and distemper shots, and the vet took a sample of his ear gook to see why his ears itch him so much.
He has another yeast infection. So, it's back to the horrible pH solution and oily ontment for another two weeks to kill the muffins he's making in his ears.
Poor baby, he hates this stuff.

Date: 2008-03-18 01:02 pm (UTC)This process requires me to sit on him in order to pin his legs. The whole thing goes something like this:
Get all supplies together and easily accessible in room.
Close cat in room with me.
Change into jeans.
Catch cat.
Kneel with one calf pinning him on either side and feet crossed behind me, so that my weight is on my legs but he's got nowhere to go. Pin his chest from the front with my left (off) hand.
Flip his ear inside out, and squirt DermaPet in, then rub with pad.
Repeat with other ear.
Carefully clean outer surfaces with cotton swab. Don't go digging for gunk; if he moves I might puncture his eardrum.
Squirt his ear full of animax. Close his ear (quickly!) and rub a little.
Repeat with other ear.
Wipe his face with a baby wipe, since animax is really greasy and I don't want it in his eyes.
Give him treats for suffering through all that.
Repeat once a day for two weeks.
It's hell on him, but it works.
