His findings really, really need to be tested. If they're confirmed...

This is the most frightening thing in the world.

Currently, I'm participating in an HIV vaccine study that uses synthetic proteins that resemble parts of the virus that they think may trigger antibodies. There's no way for me to get the virus, and they're not injecting it into me. This study is HUGE, spans many of the biggest names in health care in like ten major cities in the richest country in the world.

Now a man who lives in Sub-Sahara Africa, the Third World, says he's been injecting people with HIV. Granted, he doesn't have the same kinds of legal sanctions, but he also doesn't have the same kind of funding that we have here... I'm scared. I'm frightened that he didn't disclose all of the dangers to his patients; I'm frightened that the virus just lies dormant in his patients; I'm frightened that he isn't properly testing them for the virus, using methods like ELISA, which work well for casual testing at a clinic, but not for something of this magnitude.

Most of all, I'm frightened that my views of an African doctor coming to the cure for HIV by risking the lives of his patients long before the highly-sanctioned Western doctors do are shared by too many people to let a true breakthrough arrive.
