Oct. 26th, 2012 11:34 amI am really hoping to get more writing done. I need to get the sort of creativity aids that let you chart and plan things. I really want to start cranking out more words. I know what is going to happen in THE STORY (working title does not exist), but I am having flow issues. How do I move from Act I to Act II????????
This is the farthest I've ever gotten and I don't wanna stop!
Work is asdifnaghaufhaisuhfkhdfjksdnvkjawnefhawu. We had a two week period where shit went wrong once or twice a day. It was shit that my department didn't break, but we're the customer-facing department, so we get all the fallout. It pisses me off a bit that the people in my company who did the breaking don't have to deal with it. I hope it bites them in the ass somehow. They deserve that.
On the other hand, I got to be the first of my department to test out VPN and work from home yesterday. It was AWESOME. I mean, work is work, but I was in my pajamas and it was quiet.
So I went to my first walk-through haunted house early this month, and it was ok. I was worried that I'd freak out and punch someone, but I was actually not scared at all. I was really impressed with the design work, both of the rooms and the actors in them. It looked amazing. Going back with a big group of friends tomorrow night.
Reading Horse People by Michael Korda. I am LOVING it. If you don't love horses, reading it might make you. And not like, My Friend Flicka or Black Beauty fantasy horses, but real, bitey, asshole, snot-nosed horses. It's also great to read as a rider, and read really well-expressed thoughts about riding to show off handling skills (dressage, saddle seat, stadium jumping, not eventing which is all about courage and getting over the rails). Having the mental picture of a horse "in frame" is going to help me improve my technique.
I am recovering from a MISERABLE cold. I'm back to sneezing, which means I should be forcing the bugs out now.
Nice dinner tonight with Jay (WHO IS MY HUSBAND NOW OMG THAT'S SO COOL). Not sure what dinner tomorrow will be; Jay is going to see Renee, so maybe I'll eat with the haunted house gang. Sunday Imma crock pot some stuff.
Been watching Eureka. I am really enjoying it, although I wish they would just let Jack and Allison GET ON WITH IT ALREADY. Getting tired of the constant interference in their relationship.
The storm is going to keep me from doing anything else really Halloweeny, although I am dressing up for work. Red renfaire dress + red hood = instant Little Red Riding Hood.
Also, this is cool: In NJ, corporations are legally NOT people. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2012/10/nj_assembly_rejects_supreme_co.html Governor Christie is still a general butthead, but this is pretty good.

But I try. When I’m writing, I write. And then it’s as if the muse is convinced that I’m serious and says, 'Okay. Okay. I’ll come.'"
-Maya Angelou
Writing essays and papers in college, I often found this to be very good advice. Sometimes I would be paralyzed, unable to begin, because I couldn't think of a suitable beginning. When I just started writing, even writing things I knew were complete crap, eventually it would start to flow into things that weren't complete crap. I'd get a good body of stuff down that wasn't crap, and then I could go back and fix the beginning.
So try just writing stuff that happens between Act I and Act II, even if it's all terrible. It may flow into stuff that isn't terrible, and then you can go back and cut out the stuff that is.
"Nice dinner tonight with Jay (WHO IS MY HUSBAND NOW OMG THAT'S SO COOL)."
Hee hee hee.
