Ten Things - I Hate Dumb People
Apr. 18th, 2012 10:23 am1 - Going through a professional printer was supposed to make getting wedding invitations easier. Printing from a kit seemed like more work than it was worth, especially after printing our own save-the-date cards. But no. The printer is fine, mind. But they insist on going through an intermediary dealer, and she is a dumb spaz. Good thing we only plan on doing this once.
- I got a full night's sleep last night! Yay Benadryl.
- The air conditioner in my car was not working, so I got that fixed. It was blowing, but not cool air. Apparently I had less than a half a pound of coolant where I should have had three pounds. So the mechanic filled that up, and I have to go back next week to have it checked for leaks. Also I am getting a new hood soon. The deer dents can't be fixed. Which is amazing, when you consider that THE DEER HIT ME. He was running, I was practically stopped (decelerating from 10-0 mph in traffic).
- I am regularly presented with callers who are wealthy, living in first world countries, and trying to use computer illiteracy as an excuse for why they can't do what they have to. No. That shit flew in 1995. It's 2012. Given the aforementioned circumstances, GET FUCKING LITERATE. Or don't do business with us. Whatever.
- I finished Beloved. I ran out of reading juice, which is why it took me so long. Don't let that dissuade you, though. This book is compelling. It's hard to get into the narrative at first, it jumps around like a Tarantino flick, but once you do, it's engrossing.
- Speaking of non-linear stories, Jay and I are all caught up on Supernatural. The episodes have lately been filmed in that same time-jump manner. I...don't actually like it. It was neat in the 1990s. It's not anymore.
- I have a doctor's appointment tonight. Annual checkup. I am going to ask her about a bunch of stuff that I've had going on - need a chiropractor, should see a dermatologist and an optometrist, and it is definitely time to give therapy another try. Prozac has made my life a lot better, but I still get stuck in these nasty thought loops sometimes. And they always come at 2:00 AM. Like, if I'm having a massive depression attack where suddenly everything is awful, I guarantee you it's between 2 and 2:30. Not useful.
- There is another Goodwill purge in the works. I have hit the point where I am no longer attached to a lot of the trinkets that people have given me. I have china dolls that I have carried around and kept nice since I was 6 years old. They just sit there. They give me no pleasure anymore. So, them and things like them will be given to Goodwill, where someone who can't afford to buy nice things in regular stores can buy them and enjoy them. I have too many things, and I feel burdened by them.
- Jay is going to hang out with his cousin Jess today. They're going to see a special advanced screening of The Raven (she's an important horror person), and I suggested they go to the Van Saun Park zoo, too. I will be having leftover Chinese for dinner (nom!) and getting myself a couple of summer dresses after my doctor's appointment.
- Moroccan argan oil body wash is fucking wonderful. Deeply moisturizing without being greasy. I go back and forth between that and an exfoliating scrub with little lava rock particles.
