I would hope that everyone on my f-list is already discrete enough to NOT copy any comments written here to facebook or twitter. (Underneath the comment box, is a check box for that option.)

There seems to be some evidence that doing so will make locked entries public.

My understanding is that it doesn't make the entry public, but it could, of course, share information publicly that you would have rather remained private.
