Why do liberals tend to think that Republicans are crazy and evil, when the majority of them are not? Because that sane, neutral-to-good majority isn't drowning the nutbags out. Those of us left of center have to contend with our own crazies, most definitely. We do it by telling them to shut the hell up because they're crazy. The best thing conservatives can do for their party is disown the wingnuts instead of giving them a platform and a megaphone.

The crazy right-wing christian/republican cross section harms both christians and republicans. They're the psycho minority in both groups, but they're the ones who make themselves heard. The sane majority of both groups needs to speak up and distance themselves from these whackos - they're at a serious risk of losing all credibility.
