It's not that it's wrong to eat it, it's that they are fishing/eating too much of it. Silly humans, can they do anything in moderation?

If they reproduced at a normal rate, that would be true. But since they reproduce very slowly, no fishing of them is sustainable at this point. The only adjustment is to stop the fishing, but as long as people are eating toothfish, the fishing won't stop. Thus far, we've documented one species that is being directly impacted by this, but who knows how many more there will be?

Sadly, no amount of information will stop enough folks from eating it. The truth is, issues like these are almost impossible to properly address under capitalism, cause it's all about money. Also, it will never catch the public's attention because they have to tie two things together to see the impact. This is just too much for all the Bush voters.
