Still alive

MR event this weekend. I'm tired as usual. It's at Pine Tree, which means I get to shower.

I think I'm addicted to caffeine. I've been up for an hour now without a cup of coffee and my head is killing me.

My two cents on the gay marriage thing:

1- I don't think governments should legislate marriage. It's a religious institution. Civil unions, however, should be for everyone, and they should provide for property sharing, visitation rights, insurance, inheritance, etc.

2- So what exactly is wrong with polygamy/polyandry? Legally recognizing something doesn't mean that you as an individual have to participate in it.

3- I think incest is gross. But legally consenting adults are legally consenting adults. Yes, the kids are fucked, but nowhere near as bad as the kids of someone who drinks/smokes/does drugs during pregnancy, and nowhere near as bad as the kids of half the country already with all the shit parents do to their children psychologically. Hey, maybe they're better off retarded.
a) My ex boyfriend Bobby's little brother had severe Down's syndrome. He had a trach tube. He couldn't speak. Mentally, he was 3, even though physically, he was 10. He was a great little guy. I doubt he's still alive though. And his parents were a perfectly healthy, normal, Catholic-approved couple.
b) I went to school with a girl whose parents were first cousins. She was perfectly healthy and very intelligent. No one would know if they didn't ask.

4- How does granting permission to legal adult humans equate to bestiality? I think they're grasping at straws on that one.

Remember: gay sex is like drinking alcohol. No one's making you. It's not like we're out to legalize rape.

The Passion of the Christ:

I'm not going to go see it until the hype dies down, if at all. I am beginning to become offended at the amount I hear about it from the 60 year old Catholic women at work. I hate it when Christianity gets hyped up in the media, because people come out of the woodwork trying to save me.

George W. Bush:

Still a stupid monkey.

Cancer:

Still no word. I've been hearing "no news is good news" for a week, and even I am having trouble worrying at this point.

Job:

I should get the call next week. This is worse than when I didn't know what was going to happen, because now it's not happening fast enough and I'm getting unfocused and frustrated.

Apartment:

Found one! And if the money isn't perfect when the lease is up here, which it looks like won't be a problem, I can stay with Rebecca till all is set. Sucks that we can't have kittens in the new place, though. I'm so excited! Marc and I don't have as much in common as Becca and I did, but he's way closer than any other roommate I've had.

I miss my family a lot lately. It's been a while since I played with my niece.

Not much longer now before I can afford sushi again!

So, it's April 2000 in Washington, D.C. GUTS (gay union at trenton state) is in the Millennium March on Washington. Rev. Phelps and some of his parishoners are among the spectators, protesting. I have the extreme good fortune of passing withing two feet of him. So I did what any good banshee would do. I screamed as loud as I am capable of screaming, right in his ear. He all staggered like he'd been punched in the head. Anyone who knows me knows how loud I can scream.

I know, it's wrong to hurt people. But do I have to count him as people? He's evil.
