Well, carnivores' static eyesight isn't so great. So if you're sitting still, to a cat or dog you mostly look like a grayish blur. Their food moves, so they have excellent motion vision. So they get most of their info on the slow-moving things that they love (their people) from smell. And where do we smell the most? Our feet, especially after wearing shoes at work all day. Our foot stench is just as important as our faces, if not more so.
