Happy zombie Jesus day.  May your pastel eggs be lead-free.

Went to Chet's memorial at the farm.  Not going to say much about that.  It was good to see the people who were there.  Also, Joan is a remarkable woman who really carries herself like a queen.  I'm sure it was hard for her, though, and I'm glad she has so many good friends.

Had some baby therapy afterwards, which was very nice.  I'm saddened, though, by how little preparation many hospitals provide for new parents who want to breastfeed.  New dad's mom and I did a lot more to help than the friggin' LACTATION CONSULTANTS did, with the exception of new dad's mom's friend, who isn't even associated with the hospital.

Grr.

If you need info, read Dr. Sears.  Because apparently American hospitals still have too much fail.

Not every hospital is bad. I had an excellent experience regarding breastfeeding at SJH in Vineland, and I know that Kennedy in Washington Township has been highly rated by LLL. There are good ones in North and Central Jersey as well.

I'm glad you had a good one. I know there are a few out there; St. Barnabas in Livingston employs an LC that I consulted when I taught infant care classes and she was wonderful. I just got really upset because the lactation consultants at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden seem to have given this poor new mom as little help as possible...they made it seem like a one-size-fits all experience. So when she immediately didn't fit the pattern....

I'm glad she had actual help within the first week, instead of down the road. These things take as long to undo as they do to develop. She's doing much better already, and new dad's mom is ready to fight any moron they come across now (she delivered in Germany in the 70s, where breastfeeding was the norm and formula use was reserved for severe problems).
