I now hug everyone I know with Crohn's. Gently.
If you don't understand why your friends with Crohn's don't feel up to hanging, read this.

Date: 2007-11-02 03:56 pm (UTC)Sure... for the most part, with treatment, these aren't diseases most people die from. But, they affect self-confidence and keep folks from doing so many of the things they love in life.
I'm a bit of a foodie. I love to socialize with friends in situations which more often than not, involve foods of various types.
When I started having my most serious of my digestive issues, I stopped doing that. I was embarrassed, I couldn't enjoy myself and so... I stuck myself in a little cave and found excuses not to go out with friends.
And, unfortunately, not everyone understands it's a lot more than having an "upset stomach."
Crohn's is one of the worst... but there are lots of other digestive disorders which are just as disabling.
Just my little two cents on the matter...
