holly_evolvingI know you all just LIVE to read the details of my life, so my apologies for not updating for a while.
Coffee date with Bianca was good. She's competing for Entertainer of the Year at her job in Philly, and I'm going to try to make it down, but it's midweek and I'm not sure I can get the time off work. Everyone wish her luck, though--top prize is a few grand. And she'll be Elvis, which rules.
I had Friday off from work for MLKJ Day, so Friday afternoon Craig and I went up to Connecticut to see Rachel and Abby (Pierre Abshire. You'd be Abby too, I think.) We played Munchkin. I have created a new addict in Rachel. I'll have to get her a copy for her birthday. Saturday we made a couple of attempts to eat breakfast, to no avail. No one serves breakfast after noon! Stupid Connecticut not having diners. BUT Rachel is management at a Hot Topic up there, so I got the last pair of Demonia Predator boots on the East coast, which just happen to be in my size. I have wanted these boots since October!http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=323799 And with her employee discount, they were $29.99. Rock!
Saturday night was Danielle's birthday party at Feathers. Very cool club. Downstairs is a plain ol' bar, with two bars, a bunch of tall tables, a couple of small stages (karaoke nights) and a dart board. Upstairs is another very roomy bar set back from a big dance floor. There's another bar on the floor, and a stage off to one side. It's a rockin joint, and a super-gay club. I gave Luis money for the stripper, who had the largest weenis I've ever seen. It was scary. Luis took pictures, but I'm not going to post them. It was that scary. There were 10 of us, mostly straight (couple of bi girls, yours truly among them, and Luis) so that was funny. I did Craig's hair (gelled it a teensy bit so it stayed tame and looked gorgeous down) and he dressed all sexy. He got hit on. Hot. And HE DANCED WITH ME!!!!!!!!!! I cannot possibly express in words how important that is. Dave W. came so Craig wouldn't be the only straight boy in the club, and he expected to have a crappy time and be all uncomfortable...and now he's waiting for a reason for us all to go back so he can dress better and get hit on. I think he just wants to know what it feels like to say "Thanks for the drink, but you're not scoring," without losing out on ass he might have wanted. I was all dolled up like Marylin Monroe at a rave. God it feels good to feel all girly once in a while.
I've also been horribly sick the whole time. I had to jack myself up on cold medicine to go to the club. I wound up having an allergic reaction to the cigarette smoke (took like 4 hours to hit me...yay gay people not smoking as much) which compounded the cold so we had to leave.
Dave may have missed out on some good ass, though. As the only single straight man there, he was the target of some straight girl affection. This rockin chick Robin (heh, Rockin Robin) flashed him, hugged him a bunch, and followed us to the diner after. And he NEVER CAUGHT ON. Dingus. Boy, did he feel dumb after. There will be some pics to document the festivities as soon as Craig gets around to sending them to me.
Oh, and Danielle very much enjoyed her 24th birthday. I got her a tiara.
Eric came up on Sunday. We had coffee in Ridgewood and then sushi at Hana, which is one of the best places in North Jersey. If it were warmer, we would have wandered a bit. Wound up having a long talk and listening to some Cowboy Junkies. He's making very good decisions and I'm very proud of him. He brought me the CD of music I need to learn for when I go into the recording studio with his friend Sam. It's kind of Dylan meets a little country and a little more rock, but non-political. I like it a lot and I can't wait to get over this damn cold so I can really start singing.
Much of the rest of the week was cuddly and good. I was out sick from work on Wednesday, though. I had to rest. Wound up sleeping until 5:30 PM, and still passed right back out when I went back to bed.
Last night (back to Friday) was the Circle meeting. I'm finally a paid member of Markland, which means the Circle can take me off probationary member status any time they see fit. I'm in no hurry, though. Not being a full member doesn't mean I can't do anything except vote, and people listen to me when I have something to say anyway. Bunch of events coming up. Looks like I'm going to miss the Feast of St. Ziploc, though. I think that's when Craig's moving. I announced our faire at the meeting...we should have the Circle and at least one member of Von Draken as kitchen staff (yay no outside food vendors!) and an SCA/Markland martial to run various fight demos, which will make up a good portion of the entertainment. Holy War on Labor Day weekend, too, which sounds like a freakin' blast. I have to come up with some sort of present for Cheslov to thank him for letting us use him farm for free. Good alcohol should work, I think. Afterwards was much silliness, involving www.Tshirthell.com, which is full of wrong. Matt was all tired and I felt bad for him. I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and give him chicken soup, poor thing.
Right now it's snowing like all hell in Jersey. There's a blizzard warning, and Craig's up at the college on emergency duty. *worry*
