Now, if these disasters were really the Earth defending itself and not just natural phenomena, don't you think countries with larger carbon footprints would be affected directly? Compare Chile's footprint to the United States, and note the difference in zeros on the Y-axis. Hell, Venezuela's is twice that of Chile, and they're a quarter of Chile's area in square miles (Chile: 285,133 sqmi, Venezuela 68,063 sqmi).
