Weekend:

Saturday I slept in. Jay and I went out in the afternoon to stock up on groceries and get the supplies I needed to make leg of lamb in the crock pot, which we're having for dinner tonight. Then we went to Gallon's birthday party, which was small for a Bear Tavern party, but still managed to be epic, with the bestowing of a bottle of Seven Heads. My girls couldn't make it with the roads not being great, and they were missed. Next time!

Sunday Jay and I went to the Philly art museum with my best friend and his new girl. Major stamp of approval there; she's a good time, very positive and sweet. Upbeat is good and don't let anyone tell you different. She was very easy to be around. After the museum was dinner at a nice fusion place that does Japanese, Thai, and Korean. We then hit up the Wawa for snacks and went back to the apartment to watch the second airing of the Puppy Bowl.

I've finished A Game of Thrones and gotten about halfway into A Clash of Kings. Jay most identified with Ned, so he wasn't that grabbed by the second book. But me? I'm all about Dany and Arya.

I really need to take a new profile pic. My hair has grown in a bunch.

And the big news: My job is taking me on as a permanent employee starting March 1. Reasonable starting salary and benefits. W00t!

Ned annoyed me with his unwillingness to see the situation as it was and try to turn it to everyone's advantage. I know it was the point of the character, but goddamn, man, your unwillingness to bend is killing people!

I just started a Storm of Swords. Tyrion is amazing, I think he's the hero of the whole mess.

I find it so aggravating when people get wrapped up in their own moral codes and can't see the world as it is. The girls are idealists, but they're still adapting. And yeah, Tyrion is awesome for exactly the kind of thinking you need in his position.

Can't wait for the next book. I'm at the point in Kings where Catelyn has just begun trying to get Stannis and Renly to negotiate.
