Some days, the universe just wants to you to stay home.

Yesterday morning, I was in such a small accident that it was more of an acc. No damage to person or property whatsoever, except for a teeny scratch in the paint on my bumper. We are talking a 2mph brake-buster when I had already been braking(brake busting is when you slam on your brakes in front of someone, either out of idiocy or malice. Chica was trying not to hit a squirrel. Honorable, but oy.) So we pulled over, and a police officer happened to be right there anyway, on his way to a construction roadblock. He didn't even see a need to write up a police report, it was that much of a nothing. I did wind up going to my mechanic to make sure nothing was wrong with my car, mostly because I told the officer I would. I know he saw me, too. The roadblock was in front of my mechanic.

So then I left work early to attend the wake of a friend's grandfather. In Woodbridge. An hour from my house. I thought it was from 4-6 and 7-9. I made it down at 5:45 with the intent of taking her and her husband out for coffee in between...only to discover after I got there that I had been mistaken, and it was from 2-4 and 7-9. I had dinner plans for the evening and couldn't stay, so I called them and then went home.

Have I ever told you how much I hate driving in the Woodbridge area? I got cut off trying to get onto the Parkway North and wound up having to take the Parkway South instead to exit 124, take a U-turn, and then get on North to 287. Have you ever seen 287 North in Woodbridge at 6:30 in the afternoon on a weekday?

I hate people.

And then on my way home, my dinner plans were canceled for illness. I hope you're both well and ready for dinner on Thursday cause ZOMG what a day.

But then I got home and Jason was there. And we snuggled, and went out for sushi, and did some grocery shopping, and snuggled some more. So from like 7:30 on, my day was AWESOME.

I live in Woodbridge and it'd downright civil compared to other places in Jersey I've driven - like, you know, all of them.

Then again, maybe I'm biased.

I'm assuming you've lived there a long time and are used to quirky things like ill-placed signs leading to the Parkway.

“Congratulations, you have guessed correctly. The Parkway is indeed down this blind side street. Psych!”

I've only been driving period and living in Woodbridge since last December.

I do admit there are some tricky exits/entrances in this town. It's a bit crazy but Woodbridge is not the only town with crap like that. A good chunk of New York and NJ is like that.

I don't know what I'd do without my GPS.

Ah. See, I don't have a GPS, and must occasionally rely on signage. In most places, signs are posted far enough back from the road that they indicate that you can make your exits. In Woodbridge, not so much. I've been driving the tri-state area and New England for 8 years now, and the only place worse than Woodbridge is Boston.
