Dec. 5th, 2007 09:04 amSo I didn't have internet access at work yesterday, and Jason came over last night, so I went from unable to get online to having better things to do. It will take me a bit to catch up today.
So since I'm late, Happy Hanukkah! (LJ's preferred spelling. People who know better than me: comments?)
But I did finally go to see Beowulf. In 3D (as it should be). In IMax (cool, but not necessary). The IMax theater at the Palisades Center in West Nyack is NOT a good idea in the winter. I think they still have their AC on. I had to leave my coat on in the theater, and I should have left my gloves on. Fortunately, Jason's sister knitted him a scarf that I wrapped my hands in.
GOD THAT MOVIE WAS AWESOME! Neil Gaiman is a god. Yes, the movie suffered from Polar Express Eyes (PEE) Syndrome. Yes, Angelina Jolie looked kinda weird (hey, she's a demon). BUT ZOMGWTFBBQROFLCOPTER that was incredible! (I liked it.) I very much appreciated that Gaiman didn't deviate much, and did address the plot holes in the original poem. Also, the men bragging in the celebration scenes were exactly as I've always envisioned them. Hengorot reminded me a lot of the Golden Hall in Edoras (Tolkien's intent, I think) which is also how I've always envisioned it. Total brainsterbation for me!
