When I can afford it, I'd like to live alone for a little while. Maybe a year or two, maybe once I try it I'll want more. I've always lived with someone else; always had to make room in my life to accommodate someone else's stuff. Even when I had a single room in college, I made room for my fiance who lived there instead of in his own room. As I get older, it becomes more and more important for me to have control over my own space. This is probably helped along by the times I lived in my car.

Living alone is a wonderful, wonderful thing. The independence and control of your domain and how it looks feels really good; you can be lazy one day, and a neat freak in the next, and not have anyone getting on your case. But, in my case, I'm in a foreign country where foreigners are avoided like a social plague...so the loneliness factor adds into the equation. I miss it, but I'm very much used to living with Yuko now, and until we break up, or anything like that happens, It'd be hard to go back to living alone.

Oh, I can totally relate to that. Loneliness can be an awful, awful thing. But I'm at a point in my life where a few nights alone a week are welcome...and I have a cat.

I certainly don't want to live alone for the rest of my life. I'm hoping that things with Jason will continue as they have been, and I'll want to live with him. But before that, before I live with anyone else, when Aimee and I no longer need roommates, I will live alone with my cat and I will LOVE every second of it.

I have never, ever had a home wherein I didn't have to accommodate anyone.

I want that.
