Ebert can really piss me off
Apr. 21st, 2010 11:37 amI'm offended at the idea of someone saying that anything can or can't be art. Art is subjective; you cannot objectively define what art IS, because each individual perceives work as "art" or "not art" on his or her own terms.
I think that, not only can video games be art, but they can be an incredibly high form of art. Some have beautiful graphics, some brilliant stories, some innovative and groundbreaking gameplay. The best combine all of the above into art that not only ALLOWS its audience to participate, but DEMANDS that they do so, actively and intelligently.
