Thursday night: dinner with Marc. God did I need a steak. Then, went to Miah's in Princeton and talked into the night. Crashed there. I tell you, it's good to talk with someone who has such a different world view from mine. It really set me up to have a much more pleasant weekend that I was originally anticipating. Found out he's dating Danielle. Wow. I hope she doesn't hate me. I always thought she did. It's not something I'm going to particularly stress over like I used to, but it would be nice to find out she didn't. Being reminded of her reminded me of her brother.

Which brings us to Friday. Went down to Kegger's and had SO many questions about him and his wife but I didn't feel it was appropriate to ask. I'll ask later instead. Watched POTCII and played with the dog a bunch. Was fed many good cookies and split pea soup, which wasn't half bad, but I think I'd have to be really hungry to eat it. Met a Catahula (spelling?) leopard dog named Dutchess. Really pretty. From there, went up to Sam's in Waretown. On the way, I called Christian (Danielle's brother). Life in Albequerque sounds like it's worth seeing, so now I have two trips this year to save my pennies for: Pennsic and New Mexico. Here's hoping I can settle all my debts and get to it all. Back to Sam's. Hung out with him and Anela. What a kickass little girl. She's two and she's fearless. And, with the exception of a few greeting licks, she ignores Sam's dog Lexi, and Lexi ignores her. Which should work out for the best, as I'll get into in a bit. Got some Wawa yellow crack (also known as mac n cheese). Crashed out at Sam's.

Saturday. Drove through the Pine Barrens to Cherry Hill, passing Batstowe on the way. This town is very important to Tim and Carolyn, mostly becuase there's nothing actually IN Batstowe. Was actually a really nice drive. Why can't North Jersey radio be as good as South Jersey? I need a subscription to Sirius. I'll add it to the list of things to get when I'm not poor anymore. Hung out with Neil for a while. This involved watching Eddie Izzard, discovering the Jewish Hero Corps, and a damn good meatball parm. Neil is still quite rewardingly ticklish. I cannot WAIT till he finishes his degree and moves back to Jersey from evil, evil Michigan. *evil grin* Drove back through the Pine Barrens (man I LOVE that drive!) and hung out with Sam and Jim Morrison (yes, that's really his name. He's 25) at the Thirsty Mallard. Shorty Long (www.shortylongrocks.com) played an amazing set. I danced till 2, with only short breaks for water and a trip back to Sam's to check on Jim's new dog. He's a sweet, gentle, bearhorse of a dog. Half English Staffordshire terrier (commonly and incorrectly referred to as a pit bull--PIT BULL IS NOT A BREED, IT'S A PROFESSION! A FUCKING POODLE CAN BE A PIT BULL!), half Rottweiler. He was adopted from a shelter--came in with a huge gash on his back. After all, there's only one reason anyone crosses a "pit bull" with a Rottie. They probably decided to get rid of him when they found out he wouldn't fight. He's well trained, probably two years old and not done growing into his paws yet. Which is nuts, considering how long, tall, and solid he already is. His name is Low Down Dirty, but I can't help calling him Logan once in a while. He responds just the same. He let Lexi push him around at first, but I think soon he'll be the Beta to her Alpha, instead of the Omega. Back to the bar. Danced my ass off (I'm FINALLY not really hungry anymore). And I have to ask. Why is it always the old men who hit on me? 45-55 isn't old until it's hitting on me. Then it's just icky. 4 of them in one night. I neither want nor need a sugar daddy, thank you very much. Sort of met some of Sam and Jim's friends from high school, but between noise and alcohol, we'll probably need to be reintroduced. Crashed @ Sam's again that night. Also, Sam has feet like a fucking hobbit.

Had to book it on Sunday before the big party--I hope it was good.Sunday. Chilled out with Tim and Carolyn when I got home. Jersey (their bulldog) got a bath! She doesn't stink anymore! Woo! Watched Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and now must read the book. Went to Travis and Kelly's for a bit New Year's Eve. I was going to be good. I left T&K's before 11PM. I was going to go home and go to bed. But as I was driving past Julie's and there were all those cars and I knew it was Troy's going away party (and I knew Craig wasn't there, I'll get to that in a minute) I just gave in and stopped by. And it was great. Well, most of it was great. One girl that I'm becoming friends with is going through a really tough and unexpected breakup, which hit close to home. But I totally handled seeing it, and it didn't hurt me at all to try and help her. Double good--if she needs me, I can be there and not feel like I'm going through it myself again. She'll be ok anyway, but I'm glad I can help if she wants. Didn't get home till 2-ish.

So how did I know Craig wouldn't be there? Carolina invited me to come down there for New Year's. I couldn't because of the distance, and needing to get up at 6, but it was really nice to be invited. One of the reasons she invited me was because she knew Craig would be at Todd and Bryce's with the bulk of the Circle, and she wanted to give me an alternative. Which was really sweet. But honestly, Craig and I are going to have to deal with each other, and giving us excuses to avoid each other just delays the inevitable. We're in the same household. This is something we need to learn to do. I am, however, done trying to help him out in that regard.

ANYWAY, that was Sunday. Monday I worked from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. No First Baby of the New Year results were even posted, so it was a waste of getting up way too early. But it was a nice quiet day and I got to talk with Hiba a bit. Came home and had dinner with Tim and Car again (life without preservatives tastes pretty damn good!) and was asleep by 6PM. I'll be going back to sleep soon.
