Two people in the crackhouse up the block from where I work died. And what's worse is I know because my whole office watched while the bodies were removed...and then expounded on what might have happened. Some people...no, make that most people have no respect.

It is better to show curiosity than indifference.

sometimes people try to hide from their own possible sadness and fear of death by ridiculing and emotionally separating themselves from the dead. Death is scary and uncomfortable for the living, this fear and discomfort can be seemingly alieved by putting the cause and responsibility for that death on the dead. In a narrow view, the responsibility for the death of two OD'd crackheads is easy to divine. Unfortunately, the the social and legal politics of drug use and rehabilitation is a much more complicated issue that at least calls for some compassion and aknowledgement of humanity

Othertimes people are sad and pathetic little people who instead of focusing on improving their own lives and the world around them, decided to make themselves feel better by finding insulting and ridiculing people to make them seem lower in comparison. Why be compassionate for someone who in thier minds is beneith them?

It's nice to know that you look at people and see that people are people first

I remember when I was in college, I witnessed a car accident where in a rain storm a jaywalking pair of pedestrians were hit by a car in front of me. As I tried to secure the area and find a first aid kit (the health center right inside coould do or give me nothing for insurance reasons) and admist the screams of "Daddy! Daddy!" as the little girl who had bounced off of the windshield was being held away from her father who was lying in the middle of the street after he cracked his head on the windshield. I heard a couple say behind me "that's why I always wait for the 'walk' light before I cross the street."

But to find it funny?

It's just twisted. I mean, I'm as guilty as the next person of reading the Darwin awards and being amused, but I'm aware while I'm amused that it's sick to be amused. I just don't get how someone can look at a body bag and laugh.
