Mistake

I think that awarding President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize for things that he wants to do but hasn't accomplished yet is blatantly irresponsible and unfair, not just to other people who could have earned the prize, but to Obama as well. If he doesn't live up to expectations, it's no longer just his fellow Americans who will reject him. He will be crucified on the world stage. Why not award it to Ang Sung Suu Kyi? Or posthumously to Benazir Bhutto? The Nobel commission has done something careless here.

Added:
It appalls me that people are defending this award because "Obama changed the world's perception of America." Umm...he is who he is. They shouldn't award the prize for existing. Besides, he didn't make himself President. Voters did that.

Intention without result has no value.

Writer's Block: The one that got away

[Error: unknown template qotd] I don't think people only have one soul mate. Anytime there is a deep and abiding connection between two people, whether as friends, family, or lovers...hell even as pet and person, I think it's a soul connection. I think when a love relationship lasts, it's because of that connection coupled with A LOT of very hard work.

And no, I don't worry about the ones that got away, even when they were soul mates. Life has other things in store for them.

Obama's reaction

I would have been more pleased if he'd refused it, but I like that says he doesn't feel he deserves it.
