Advice for veggible people
If you're an herbivore for whatever reason (I have definite opinions on the subject, but I'm not ready to rant today) you probably experience the occasional meat craving. I always used to think that vege-type people researched their lifestyle choices, but I am discovering that this is not so. To that end, some help:
You need iron, omega-3 fatty acid, and vitamin B12. Humans normally obtain these from meat.
Any blood issue is helped along by iron. It makes hemoglobin work so your blood can carry oxygen, which handles everything from clear thought to strength to pain threshold to stamina etc etc etc. There are plenty of non-animal ways to get it, including lots of natural ones like peanuts.
Omega-3 fatty acid is a building block of seratonin. Seratonin is the endorphine that allows your moods to stabilize and helps your sleep be actually restful, which in turn helps thinking and physical health. Richest source in the world: fish oil, especially in raw salmon. There are also supplements for omega-3. If you don't use animal products at all, make sure your supplement is artificial, as many are simply salmon oil in a capsule.
B12. B12 makes your brain go. In nature, usable amounts are found ONLY in animal products. If you don't use them at all, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET SUPPLEMENTS!!!! Without B12, your synapses will fire weakly until they begin to STOP. You will have trouble forming new ones. You will have trouble processing all the lovely other nutrients you eat. YOU NEED B12!!!!!
I'm anti-vegetarianism, not anti-vegetarian. The ones I do like, I want to see well. The ones I don't like/don't care about, I want to see intelligent enough to not harass me about eating the flesh of cute cuddly cows.

Interestingly enough, since I stopped eating meat, my bloodwork has been coming back healthier, including a previous low iron level now being perfectly normal. Then again, when I decided to stop eating meat, I figured I'd better learn how to suppliment my diet properly so I didn't get sick.
But thank you for the tip! Lucky me, I love honey, spinnach and avacodos! =)

You are smart and you take responsibility for yourself.
The post was inspired by an old post of yours, but the ranti-ness came from dumb herbivores who don't do their homework.
