Why does anyone tolerate anonymous posters? If you're too much of a coward to admit who you are, could your imput have been that important? I don't use my name online, but everyone knows who I am. I used to hide, but I got over that. At this point, I use Platypus because it's fun for me.

I'd love for the people who trash me online where it's safe to walk into a Markland war camp and try it there.

You don't even have to pay to attach your name when you slam me! You can get a goddamn free account here:

Attack away! I don't care. But at least have the balls to admit it was you, you fucking coward.

What, like you would if you were the type that did? Silly George.

"As for anomnimity don't be a hippacrite you used to change the name of every person you posted about to maintain your anomnimity"

It's true, I used to. And I said that myself in the body of the original post. Are you taking credit for saying no one likes me, then?

What end are you seeking when you make it a point to publicly humiliate another person? Do you really think that if enough people dislike someone it is a valid excuse to try and strip away that person's humanity?

None of us are without fault, so none of us should be without mercy.

If Loretta has done something against you, it is your responsibility to make that specific act known to her directly so that the wrong can be righted. If she has done NOTHING against you than YOU are in the wrong for persecuting her, regardless of your personal taste in people.

There is a difference between changing the names of those involved to protect the innocent and posting anonymously so that you can wreak havoc on someone with relative impunity (unless, of course, the person tracks your IP). What [livejournal.com profile] imaplatypus used to do was use LJ as a place to express her feelings and get them out without hurting anyone--I know people used to read the journal and try to piece together what was going on using real-life knowledge.

Anonymous posting of intentionally hurtful comments is something completely different.

Obligatory comment: Anonymous posters are LAME.

"I know people used to read the journal and try to piece together what was going on using real-life knowledge."

Which always made me wonder: why? If no one really cared, then why read it? But that's human nature.

I'm glad people out there do understand why I wrote the way I did, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees a difference.

For the sake of those who won't go to the bottom of this thread, but will instead assume I attacked Walter, I reiterate: Walter is not the anonymous poster, and thus I have nothing against him.

Yes, anonymous posters are lame. No, I can't do anything to stop them. And I won't tell them to shut up; they have the same rights to free speech as anyone else, as far as I'm concerned. But I will sure as hell ban them from my LJ, as well as screening all comments before they're posted. I can't protect myself while in other people's spaces, but I can rule my space as I see fit. Which is good enough for me.

I'm really sorry that happened. I deleted the insult as soon as I saw it and I posted an open letter on the subject.

You're a sweetheart, thanks. It wasn't necessary for my sake...sooner or later that sort of thing is going to pop up for me at MR. It just sucks that people threw that sort of stupid shit on your journal. They should apologize to you for it.

Very well, then. I have nothing bad to say about you. You are NOT a coward. I do, however, disagree with your defense of anonymous posters. It was indefensible when I did it, and it's indefensible when anyone does it. I did not, however, use my anonymity as a shield behind which I could safely bash people. And I've deleted those posts I entered while anonymous, as I was ashamed to have been such a coward myself.
