Astrology fans

Your astrological sign may not be what you think it is.

I don't know. My ex was definitely an Aries but his birthday is one day before according to the new calendar. But I did know they changed it to 12 instead of 13. Thanks for the link

I hear ya. They say I'm a Gemini, but I feel more like a bipolar split between Cancer and Leo (b-day is July 19).

I'm apparently an Ophiuchus. What the Hell does that mean?

The snake-handler has some interesting associations. Take a look at the Mythology section.

My sweetie had been telling me this for as long as we've been together. But I'm still a Taurus. Very. Thank you.

This is not an accurate alignment of astronomy and astrology. The astrological signs have to do with what alignment the "planets" (including the Sun and Moon) have relative to the Earth, which were marked 2200 years ago according to the stars. The astrological _houses_ have not moved--the stars that show up behind them "have" (depending on your perspective, of course). So, the "old" dates are still the ones to go by--they're the ones that will tell you the personological alignments. Just because the constellation Gemini was behind the sun when you were born doesn't mean the sun was in the house of Gemini... it was, in fact, on the cusp of the houses of Leo and Cancer.

Also, the actual constellations are not the same size: Virgo and Scorpio are two of the largest constellations in the sky, whereas Aries is TINY... Still, the houses are determined by other factors; either a fixed-house system divides the sky up into 30-degree segments, or the Placidus system divides the space between the horizon and Midheaven evenly on each side, giving uneven houses.

This is also what is meant by the "Age of Aquarius"--on the Vernal Equinox, the sun rises with Aquarius behind it. That doesn't mean everyone born in what was once "Aries" is now and Aquarius... just that the ancients did recognize that the constellations will shift.
